Why “Massage Is Therapy For Me”?

Why Own a Massage Business?

Growing up, the only thing I ever knew I wanted to do was to own a business.  I did not know what industry I wanted to be in, I did not care about being a millionaire, and I definitely did not know anything about the human body.  So, owning a massage business was never really on my radar until the mid to late 2010s.

I went to Saint John’s University in 2012 and graduated in 3 years with a BS in Business Management.  I started floating around the idea of owning different types of businesses.  I thought about restaurants and pizzerias like my father and his father.  I worked in a local pizzeria for about two years and thought I could definitely do this.  I also looked into owning parking garages and parking lots, but saw that I did not have the money for that or the land or business ownership experience needed.

Then, I got hired as a Business to Business Sales Consultant for Staples and became Jim or Dwight in The Office.  I wasn’t loving my life by any means but the money was great and the experience and training I received from my manager was amazing.  I did not like selling a product that I did not believe in.  I was not bought in or drinking the Kool-Aid of the product being worth it for clients.  I would leave meetings thinking, maybe they need that, but I need the sales numbers.  I still thought about owning my own business, but still was not CALLED to anything.  Then, I got hurt playing soccer and after discussions with my Doctor of Physical Therapy sister for help as well as discussing how I am good at massages, I should go to school for it.

After leaving Corporate America and going to massage school, I finally knew I needed to own my own massage therapy business.

I loved the idea of owning a business that provided a service to people that I actually believed in, because it was MY own hard work, and I believed in myself.

I loved the idea of owning a business that provided a service people NEEDED.

I loved the idea of owning a business and making money. But not for making money’s sake, but to take care of my future family, living situations AND donating 10% of all profits at the end of the year to a charity that I believed in.

I loved the idea of owning a business and doing what I loved to do every day.

Why the name “Massage Is Therapy For Me”?

Every session with a client is never just going through the motions.  Every single session I am hyper focused on the problems or concerns presented by my clients.  Most of the time my eyes are closed, picturing the muscle I am touching, thinking of how it SHOULD feel, and then also factoring in the muscles around it and their antagonists (opposites).  I truly believe a therapist not tuned into the client and their body and mind, is someone who is missing half the job of taking care of their clients needs.  If you are not present while someone is paying you for a service you provide, why do it at all?

I care.  It is as simple as that.  I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I truly want to make sure you leave every session feeling brand new.  I also do understand I am not a magician that with a flick of the wrist, can wish the pain away.  If I could, I would be a billionaire.

If you walk out of a session, feeling better than you walked in, that is the best case scenario for me.

Therefore, Massage Is Therapy For You.

If you walk out of a session, feeling better than you walked in, that is therapy for me.

Therefore, Massage Is Therapy For Me.

I truly feel better, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically, the days I am working on clients.  I think there is something beautiful and energetically lifting when someone walks out of their session in awe at how their body feels.

I hope you are able to book a session and see how Massage Can be Therapy For You.
